J.Cat Beauty - The Big Lip Pencil Review & Swatches

A little while back I reviewed the J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipsticks. If you read the review, you probably know I was quite disappointed, but I also mentioned that I tested other products of the brand and loved them. Well - here they are!

Vor kurzer Zeit habe ich eine Review zu den J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipsticks verfasst und war bekanntlich etwas enttäuscht. Allerdings hatte ich auch erwähnt, dass ich noch andere Produkte der Firma getestet und geliebt habe. Hier sind sie!

❤ First impressions ❤ 
I instantly thought of a lip pencil from Urban Decay I already own, which I absolutely love, so I had quite high hopes for these pencils. The packaging is nothing special, but it never really is when it comes to lip pencils, so that's absolutely fine! In terms of price, they're 3,99$ on the official US website. In Germany, you can get these for 4,50€ at miacosa.de!

❤  Erste Eindrücke
Ich musste sofort an einen Lip Pencil von Urban Decay denken, den ich besitze und absolut liebe, also setzte ich große Hoffnungen in diese Stifte. Die Verpackung ist nichts besonderes, was bei solchen Stiften allerdings die Regel und damit absolut in Ordnung ist! Preislich liegen sie bei 3,99$ auf der offiziellen US Seite, in Deutschland bekommt man sie für 4,50€ bei miacosa.de!

❤ Swatches ❤ 
When I swatched these, I instantly got very excited! They're very creamy and easy to apply, the formula is very nice! The coverage of every single color was perfect. My lips got very dry from removing makeup over and over again, so these lip pencils handled the challenge really well.

❤ Swatches
Als ich die Stifte aufgetragen habe war ich sofort begeistert. Sie sind sehr cremig und leicht aufzutragen, wirklich super! Die Deckkraft von jeder einzelnen Farbe war perfekt. Meine Lippen waren vom mehrfachen Entfernen von Makeup schon sehr trocken, aber diese Aufgabe haben die Stifte trotzdem ganz gut gemeistert.

The first color is "Hot Pink". It's a pretty color, but as you know, I'm not the biggest fan of metallic shimmer and this one has a bit of it going on. Not too much though! I also do know not everyone shares that opinion, so I'll show you this color anyway! It  has a really nice texture, can't complain about that at all.

Die erste Farbe ist "Hot Pink". Die Farbe an sich ist hübsch, auch wenn sie mir ohne den Schimmer besser gefallen hätte. Allerdings weiß ich ja, dass nicht jeder diese Meinung teilt, deswegen stelle ich sie euch hier trotzdem vor! Die Textur ist schön, darüber kann ich mich absolut nicht beschweren.

Looking for a super classic red? This one might be perfect for you! "Red Rose" is a beautiful red. It's so easy to apply and applies very evenly. One of the best red lip products I own. I was honestly blown away by it!

Sucht ihr ein super klassisches Rot? Dieses Rot könnte perfekt für euch sein! "Red Rose" ist ein wunderschönes Rot. Es ist sehr einfach aufzutragen und sehr gleichmäßig. Eins der besten roten Lippenprodukte, die ich besitze. Ich war wirklich begeistert davon!

"Plum" is a nice wearable pink, not too bright, a perfect shade. It looks very pretty applied, and it feels nice as well!

"Plum" ist ein schönes tragbares Pink, nicht zu grell, ein perfekter Farbton. Es sieht aufgetragen sehr schön aus und fühlt sich auch wirklich gut an!

"Christmas" is a shade you can wear at any time - not only on Christmas. It's a perfect neutral pink shade, very subtle but beautiful!

"Christmas" ist eine Farbe, die man immer tragen kann - nicht nur an Weihnachten. Es ist ein perfektes neutrales Pink, sehr dezent aber wunderschön!

The last shade is "Caramel Mocha". It's more on the orange side of the color wheel, also very subtle, wearable and pretty! Unfortunately my lips were really dry by the time I applied this, but it still handled that very well! The curse of swatching loads of lipsticks AND lip pencils in one hour!

Die letzte Farbe ist "Caramel Mocha". Es ist etwas mehr auf der orangenen Seite des Farbkreises, auch sehr dezent, tragbar und hübsch! Leider waren meine Lippen schon sehr trocken, als ich diese Farbe aufgetragen habe, aber auch das hat sie sehr gut gemeistert! Der Fluch, super viele Lippenstifte UND Lip Pencils innerhalb einer Stunde zu swatchen!

❤ Conclusion 
I guess you already know - I love these lip pencils! They're super easy to apply, nice to wear and don't really settle into any lines. Definitely in love! 

Ich schätze ihr wisst es schon - ich liebe diese Stifte! Sie sind super einfach aufzutragen, angenehm zu tragen und setzen sich nicht wirklich in Fältchen ab. Bin verliebt!

Diesen Look habe ich einige Male bereits gesehen und wollte ihn selbst mal ausprobieren! Ein einfacher Regenbogen-Eyeliner der tatsächlich für den Alltag geeignet ist - ich hab's ausprobiert. Er ist recht dezent, wenn man ihn so nennen kann, aber wirklich schön!

J.Cat Beauty - Fantabulous Lipstick Review & Swatches

A few days ago I received some products I was super excited about - Lipsticks from J.Cat Beauty! These Lipsticks are quite low-priced but looked amazing, so I decided to give them a go after reading quite a few convincing reviews.

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich einige Produkte erhalten, auf die ich mich extrem gefreut habe - Lippenstifte von J.Cat Beauty! Diese Lippenstifte sind recht günstig aber sahen super aus, also habe ich mich nach dem Lesen von einigen überzeugenden Reviews entschlossen, sie auszuprobieren.

❤ First impressions
I instantly thought the packaging was cute - although it doesn't look super pricey - it's nice to see the colors right away! I experienced some problems opening the lipsticks though, some seemed to be stuck a bit. That was somewhat annoying, but not too bad since you could open them completely, even the ones that were a bit stuck, eventually. The scent of the lipsticks is really nice! Reminded me of MAC lipsticks a lot, which got my hopes up that these might be a really nice alternative.

❤  Erste Eindrücke
Ich fand die Verpackung sofort recht süß - auch wenn sie nicht super teuer aussieht - es ist schön, die Farben auf Anhieb zu erkennen! Ich hatte einige Probleme beim Aufdrehen der Lippenstifte, einige klemmten etwas. Das war ein wenig nervig, aber nicht zu schlimm, da man sie trotzdem letztendlich alle ganz öffnen konnte. Der Geruch der Lippenstifte ist sehr angenehm! Hat mich sofort an MAC Lippenstifte erinnert, was mir Hoffnungen machte, eine gute Alternative zu ihnen gefunden zu haben.

❤ Swatches
When I swatched the lipsticks, one thing became extremely obvious: the formula of these lipsticks isn't exactly smooth. It's a bit hard, making them a bit harder to apply, they didn't feel very nice while applying and the coverage... oh boy, the coverage was NOT what I expected at all! I had to layer and layer and layer for the swatches, but here you go!

❤  Swatches
Als ich die Lippenstifte aufgetragen habe wurde eine Sache sofort deutlich: die Textur dieser Lippenstifte ist nicht gerade weich. Sie sind etwas hart, was es ein wenig schwerer macht, sie aufzutragen. Der Auftrag war dadurch nicht unbedingt angenehm und die Deckkraft... naja, die war absolut nicht was ich erwartet hatte! Ich musste für die Swatches immer und immer wieder schichten, aber bitte sehr! 

The first shade is called "Java Apple". It's a light pink with a kind of metallic shimmer. 

Die erste Farbe heißt "Java Apple". Es handelt sich dabei um ein helles rosa mit einem etwas metallischen Schimmer.

The second shade is "Mulberry". It's a cool-toned very light pink with a satin finish. If it was a bit more like the color in the tube, I'd like this a lot more.

Der zweite Lippenstift ist "Mulberry". Mulberry ist ein sehr helles kaltes Pink mit einem Satin-Finish. Wäre es der Farbe in der Tube ähnlicher, würde es mir deutlich besser gefallen.

 "Margarita" is a reddish pink with a stronger metallic shimmer. 

"Margarita" ist ein rötliches Pink mit einem stärkeren metallischen Schimmer.

"Shrimp" is one of my least favorites. It's also a pink, but this one has an unflattering even stronger metallic shimmer to it.

"Shrimp" gefällt mir mit am wenigsten. Es ist auch ein Pink, aber dieses hat einen unvorteilhaften noch stärkeren metallischen Schimmer.

The color I liked most is "Prune". It's a pink shade that works well with my skintone and has a satin finish. The only problem is that it is very sheer, so you need quite a few layers to actually see the color.

Die Farbe die mir am besten gefallen hat ist "Prune". Das ist ein Pink das sehr gut mit meiner Hautfarbe harmoniert und ein Satin-Finish hat. Das einzige Problem ist, dass es eine sehr geringe Deckkraft hat, man braucht also etliche Schichten um die Farbe überhaupt zu erkennen.

"Lychee" is a cool-toned red. The color itself is very pretty, but the unpleasant shimmer kind of ruins it again.

"Lychee" ist ein Rot mit einem blauen Unterton. Die Farbe an sich ist sehr schön, allerdings stört auch hier der etwas unschöne Schimmer.

The last shade is "Black Berry". It's a pinky purple with - surprise - a strong metallic shimmer. It's also a bit patchy applied.

Die letzte Farbe ist "Black Berry". Es ist ein Pink-Lila mit - Überaschung - einem starken metallischen Schimmer. Außerdem ist es im Auftrag etwas fleckig.

❤ Conclusion 
As you can probably see, I have a huge problem with these lipsticks - most of them have a cold metallic shimmer I TOTALLY dislike. I know some people really like that, but to me, it simply looks odd. Most colors looked way lighter when applied compared to what they looked like in the tube and for some reason most colors looked out of place with my skintone. Bummer! Colorwise, Prune and Lychee are alright for me, but the rest - not so much. As I mentioned, I've read a lot of positive reviews about these lipsticks and maybe I just picked the wrong colors. I'm quite disappointed either way, really wanted to love them!

❤ Fazit
Wie ihr vermutlich sehen könnt gibt es für mich ein weiteres Problem bei diesen Lippenstiften - die Meisten haben einen kalten metallischen Schimmer, der mir ÜBERHAUPT nicht gefällt. Ich weiß, dass manche Menschen das mögen, aber für mich sieht es einfach seltsam aus. Die meisten Farben sehen aufgetragen auch viel heller aus als in der Tube und aus irgendeinem Grund passen die meisten Farben einfach nicht zu meinem Hautton. Schade! Prune und Lychee sehen farblich für mich noch in Ordnung, aber die Restlichen leider nicht so sehr. Wie bereits erwähnt habe ich zuvor viele positive Reviews gelesen und vielleicht habe ich einfach die falschen Farben ausgesucht. So oder so bin ich etwas enttäuscht, ich wollte sie wirklich lieben!

If you like metallic shimmer and are alright with layering, you might want to check these out. They aren't pricey after all, so if you're on a budget, you may want to give them a go. For me they just didn't do the trick - I guess I'm quite picky when it comes to lipsticks after all.

Wenn ihr metallischen Schimmer mögt und kein Problem mit Schichten habt, könnten euch die Lippenstifte vielleicht gefallen. Sie sind nicht teuer, wenn ihr also etwas knapp bei Kasse seid, wären sie vielleicht einen Versuch wert. Für mich haben sie einfach nicht funktioniert - ich bin wohl doch etwas wählerisch wenn es um Lippenstifte geht.

Setting Sun

I've seen the color combination of purple and orange floating around a lot lately, so I decided to give it a try. I combined purple and yellow before, so it wasn't really something extremely new to me. This look really reminds me of a perfect sunset, so I named it after that.

Ich habe in letzter Zeit sehr oft die Farbkombination aus Lila und Orange gesehen, also habe ich mich entschieden es selbst auszuprobieren. Ich hatte vorher schon Lila und Gelb kombiniert, also war es für mich nicht so neuartig. Dieser Look erinnert mich sehr an einen perfekten Sonnenuntergang, also habe ich ihn danach benannt.

Da ich diesen Monat für Miacosa meine liebsten China Glaze Nagellacke ausgesucht habe, dachte ich mir, ich swatche sie euch bei dieser Gelegenheit mal! Ich kann mich nicht entscheiden, welcher mir am Besten gefällt.
Zu den Nagellacken geht's hier!

#1 - Flip Flop Fantasy

Ein wirklich ganz besonderer Lack! Durch die spezielle Farbe, den Neon-Look und das fast schon matte Finish ist dieser Lack definitiv mehr als ein Hingucker! Er leuchtet förmlich, was man auf Bildern leider schlecht einfangen konnte. Aber seht selbst!

#2 - No Plain Jane

Die Duochrome Kombination aus einem etwas schlammigen Grünton und dem Lila ist wirklich einzigartig und zieht sicherlich etliche Blicke auf sich!

#3 - Not In This Galaxy

Ein Lack der Holographic Kollektion. Wunderschöner Rosa-/Pinkton mit holografischem Schimmer.

#4 - Little Drummer Boy

Deckend in einer Schicht! Ein wunderschönes tiefes Blau mit leichten Glitzerpartikeln und einem Hauch von Grünanteil, den man leider auf den Bildern nicht erkennen kann.

#5 - Strap On Your Moonboots

Ein weiterer Lack aus der Holographic Kollektion! Wunderschönes leicht gräuliches Blau mit holografischem Schimmer. Erinnert stark an Galaxy-Designs - passender könnte der Name auch kaum sein!

#6 - OMG a UFO

 Mein allerliebstes Grün! Ebenfalls aus der Holographic Kollektion, mit schönem Goldanteil und ebenfalls holografischem Schimmer. Definitiv einen zweiten Blick wert!

Welcher Lack gefällt euch am Besten? Ich kann mich nicht entscheiden!
